Background of the Study:
Political exclusion refers to the systematic denial or limitation of the ability of certain groups, particularly marginalized populations, to participate in political processes. In Nigeria, the youth population, which constitutes a significant portion of the country's total demographic, often faces exclusion from meaningful political participation. In Katsina, Katsina State, youth have expressed concerns about their lack of representation in political decision-making, despite their critical role in shaping the socio-economic landscape.
The exclusion of youth from political processes undermines their right to participate in governance, which is a fundamental human right. This marginalization has implications not only for the individual rights of young people but also for the development of the entire state. This study seeks to examine the political exclusion of youth in Katsina, focusing on its impact on human rights, including the right to political participation, access to opportunities, and social inclusion.
Statement of the Problem:
Despite the large youth population in Katsina, political exclusion has prevented many young people from fully participating in governance and decision-making processes. This exclusion limits their access to opportunities, social mobility, and the ability to influence policies that directly affect their lives. The study aims to assess the implications of this exclusion on the human rights of youth in Katsina and propose strategies for enhancing political inclusion.

Scope and Limitations of the Study:
The study will focus on youth in Katsina State and their involvement in political processes. Limitations include possible resistance from political leaders and young people who may fear retribution for speaking out about political exclusion.
